The Welch House Inn was built in the 1870s, and the original building was comprised of the Main House and the Sail Loft. The Main House had one original fireplace and a cistern in the cellar that collected drinking water. The Sail Loft was exactly that, a three-story open building used to hang up sails for cleaning and repair. Over the years, interesting and much appricated ammenities have been added by various owners, including running water, electricity and heat.
There are two ways to stay at the Welch House Inn. You can stay in the Main House, which is open all year or the Sail Loft, which offers seasonal accomidations.
Richly appointed rooms with a Victorian ambiance, fine art and classic New England design and comfort.
Our main house has nine beautifully appointed guest rooms, six of which have fireplaces. The rooms are primarily furnished with Victorian, Eastlake and Deco pieces, with the occassional contemporay piece slipped in when it works.
All have air conditioning and private baths, although three of the rooms (#3 Windward, #7 Southern Cross and #8 Southport) have detached private baths located next door or across the hall. All rooms have King or Queen beds.
Stroll through the hallways and you'll find exquisite artwork by numerous local artists, of which some pieces are available for purchase and really represent the best galleries in town.
Seven of the rooms have great views of the outer harbor, the other two look onto town and the head of the harbor. The best views in the main house are rooms #2 Captain's Lady, #3 Windward and #7 Southern Cross.

Clean, comfortable and affordable, our Sail Loft has everything you need to relax and drink in the views or, if you choose, make the Welch House your base from which to explore Midcoast Maine.
We feature rooms with a King, Queen, two double or one single configurations, all with private bathrooms and all with Air Conditioning.
Two rooms, #12 Harbormaster and #14 Navigator, have excellent views of the Harbor while #15 Deepwater and #16 Seafoam have generous peeks, their own entrances and are pet friendly, (if requested when your reservation is booked). #11 Helmsman looks out over town to the head of the harbor.
Relax with friends on either of our two common decks, and as always, your room includes our full, gourmet breakfast each day.

All rates are subject to Maine's 7% lodging tax.
A 10% discount is offered on stays of 7 or more days in high season. Ask about discounts for long-term stays in the off season. All rates apply to two persons per room.
There is a twenty-five dollar nightly charge for each additional person.
We welcome well-behaved children of all ages, but we advise parents traveling with small children that the inn is not toddler-proof.

Advance reservations must be secured with a deposit equal to one-half of your total stay (one night stays will be fully charged at time of reservation).
Cancellations made at least two weeks prior to your check in date will receive a full refund of your deposit less a $20.00 processing fee.
Cancellations made within the two week window prior to your date of arrival will receive a voucher equal to the full value of the deposit which can be used toward a stay at any later date. Personal checks and Visa/Mastercard/Amex are accepted.
